By | Holiday CreateAthon | 69 Comments

The holiday season is right around the corner and the team at Ink to Paper is excited to create and share projects. Fall is the season of gratitude, which leads right into the Christmas season of giving. We wanted to dedicate the month of November to a marathon of creative inspiration using our holiday themed stamps and dies. Crafting during the holiday season is very popular, and our collection of stamps and dies will surely inspire you to create along with us throughout the month.

Get ready to learn some fun facts about the company, designers, and of course amazing new ways to create cards, gift tags, and more!

Let’s take a closer look at these vacation themed collections we are featuring for today’s CreateAthon! Laurie Schmidlin and Rebecca Luminarias have created beautiful Christmas cards with a twist!

Bon Voyage Stamps + Dies

Beachy Keen Stamps + Dies

“You can turn a very summery set into a holiday card just by pairing it with some holiday themed images!  Here, I added some greenery from the Christmas Florals set to a card created with Beachy Keen for a tropical Christmas design.”

“Having grown up in New York, there’s nothing I love more than a white Christmas and the smell of a real evergreen tree.  I moved out to California in my 20’s and still remember the strangeness of my first holiday season in Southern CA–there was zero snow, it was 70 degrees outside, and every palm tree was wrapped in white string lights!  All these years later, it’s become second nature so a Christmas card featuring the palm trees of Beachy Keen is completely normal!  These ‘warm wishes’ are going out to all the folks currently experiencing freezing temperatures, which might have them considering hopping on a plane and seeking out warmer weather.”

Let’s take a closer look at this wonderful gift giving product we are featuring for today’s CreateAthon! Laurie Schmidlin and Melissa Bickford have created these beautiful projects showcasing the versatility of this product.

Tag Creations: Modern Gift Die

“The poinsettias in this die set are detailed enough to use as both the focal images as well as the backgrounds!  I used different colors for the focal image so that they would stand out a bit more against all of the background blooms.”

“I’ll be honest, packaging die collections intimidate me a little. It takes me a little extra time at my craft desk choosing the layout and color combinations before I feel like I’m ready to jump in. But when I first saw Tag Creations: Modern Gift I immediately fell in love and couldn’t wait to create pretty packaging with it. Here I mixed it with the cheerful Holly Jolly Holiday to create a few gift card holders for the upcoming holiday!”

It’s A Sign: Wood Frames Stamps + Dies

“I love decorating for Christmas and inviting guests to my home to share in the joys of the season. The new Border Bling: String Lights paired with this festive sentiment from the new Season’s Greetings set invoke those same cheery feelings!”

“The woodgrain sign images from It’s A Sign: Wood Frames make the perfect backdrop for any project. You could stamp your images and sentiment directly inside the frame or choose to embellish around it with beautiful flowers, like I did for today! And creating with a crisp white background, and just a few pops of color, truly makes that frame stand out!

It’s A Sign: Christmas Bough Stamps + Dies

“When we think of Christmas colors, many of us think of the traditional red and green, but I tend to always choose a color combination that is non-traditional and a bit more on the colorful side. One of my favorite combinations is Berry Sorbet, Raspberry Fizz and Pure Poppy! These colors were perfect for the berries in It’s A Sign: Christmas Bough!”

November Mini Release

By | Holiday CreateAthon, New Product Collections | 96 Comments

Welcome to our November mini release! The holiday season is quickly approaching, so we wanted to offer a few more seasonal products. This month, we chose a mini release to focus on Christmas and winter inspired stamps and dies that can be used to make cards, tags, gift card holders, and more.

Winter Warmth Stamps & Dies

Season’s Greetings Stamps

Inside Greetings: God’s Love Stamps

Basic Borders: Rectangle Die

Border Bling: Stitched Die

Border Bling: String Lights Die

“There is just something so classic about gold and white together that is perfect for Christmas, don’t you think?  To add a bit more of a modern twist, I added Weathervane.  The Border Bling: Tin Stitched is the perfect way to frame your designs without adding an additional layer!”

STAMPS:  Winter Warmth, Season’s Greetings
INK:  Versamark
PAPER:  Stamper’s Select White, Weathervane, Gold luxe
DIES:  Winter Warmth, Border Bling: Tin Stitched
OTHER:  Gold detail embossing powder

“Keeping layers to a minimum is especially helpful when mailing out a multitude of Christmas cards.  Pairing bold images (like the leaves in the Winter Warmth set) with a bold color combo is a great way to create a striking design without multiple layers.”

STAMPS:  Winter Warmth
INK:  Pure Poppy, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, True Black, Whisper White, Gold Delicata
PAPER:  Stamper’s Select White, Pure Poppy
DIES:  Winter Warmth

“There are so many images in Winter Warm stamp set, I had a hard time narrowing down which ones I wanted to use. I wanted my card to have a red floral background with touches of green and gold. Layering floral die cuts with stamped greenery is an easy way to design seamless patterns with color.”

STAMPS: Winter Warmth, Inside Greetings: God’s Love

INK: Versamark, Olive Twist, Prairie Grass, Pure Poppy

PAPER: Stamper’s Select White, Pure Poppy, Ripe Avocado

DIES: Winter Warmth, Banner Builder Basics

“The new Border Bling dies are so fun to use! There are a couple of ways to use them. For this card, I chose to add the stitched border with the string lights die cut to frame the greeting. Don’t forget to have fun with the string lights. Add color and glossy elements to make them pop!”

STAMPS: Season’s Greetings

INK: Enchanted Evening, markers (Copic)

PAPER: Soft Stone, Enchanted Evening, Pure Poppy, coaster board

DIES: Border Bling: Stitched, Border Bling: String Lights, To Die For Sentiments: Christmas

“Allowing the greeting to shine on a card can sometimes be a challenge. I chose to start with sentiments from Season’s Greetings. I added a little birch trees subtly to the background and embellished the corner of the die cut frame. The new Basic Borders: Rectangle Die is perfect for creating a focal frame.”

STAMPS: Season’s Greetings, Peaceful Forest

INK: Soft Stone, Weathervane, Pure Poppy

PAPER: Stamper’s Select White, Pure Poppy, Ripe Avocado, True Black

DIES: Border Basics: Rectangle, Tag Creations: Modern Gift Card

Go-to Gift Card: Snowman Accessories Stamps + Dies

“I’m obsessed with felt ornaments and love adding them to one of my Christmas trees in particular! Ever since the Go To Gift Card Holder: Snowman was released, I’ve been dying to turn it into an ornament. It also plays double duty as a tag to accent any holiday gift to give it instant charm and character!”

“I love the Go-To Gift Card Holder: Snowman die collection for its versatility–the body of the snowman comes in two sizes so you can use it for cards, tags, and of course, gift card holders.  I paired the small die with the Tent-Style Packaging die today and some yummy hot cocoa packets.  The sentiments from the Snowman Accessories die are just right for any warm beverage when the weather turns cold.  I also swapped out paper for more textural mediums like grosgrain ribbon for the scarf and felt for the hat and carrot nose.  Think about adding some extra details from other sets you have on hand–I chose some tiny flowers to stitch to my snow-girl (from Simply Sweet: Thanks) and some holly leaves for the snow-boy (from Framing Florals: Christmas).  The best part: You can give out these sweet treats all winter long!”

“With the business of the holiday season, I like to have some small gifts made ahead of time.  Little treats or other small trinkets might not cost a lot of money but can be a special gift when dressed up!  These little treats are perfect for hostess gifts, gift toppers, or even to dress up a holiday table! “I love using pattern paper every now and again because it gives my projects instant detail and interest! I love how sweet the snowflakes look paired with the pink polka dots and silver embossing!”

“I love embossing sentiments on my projects but with smaller sentiments like the one I used here, they don’t always show up very well.  This is especially true when the background is a pattern or darker color.  I find that embossing the sentiment onto vellum will mute the pattern/color behind it, allowing the sentiment to fully shine.”

Critter Carolers Stamps + Dies

Happy Happy Holidays Stamps

Go-To Gift Card Holder: Snow Globe Dies

Who doesn’t love cute penguins?!  My nieces and nephew live on the opposite coast from us so gift cards are always my first choice when it comes to their Christmas gifts.  The Snow Globe Go-To Gift Card Holder paired with that adorable penguin from Critter Carolers, plus a sentiment and some trees from Happy Happy Holidays is perfect for wrapping up gift cards for kids.  I’ll probably create a few more of these and just swap out the critters and colors depending on who I’m making it for.  The last time I used the Snow Globe dies, I made shaker ornaments, again pairing them with the Happy Happy Holidays phrases.  HHH fit so neatly inside the globe (or ornament), and the sweet animals are a fun addition.

“I love taking advantage of specialty cardstock and paper during the holidays because of their glitter, shimmer, and shine.  These particular elements are perfect to bring out the things we associate with Christmas such as the glitter cardstock used for my ornament and the silver cardstock used for the ornament hanger.”
