Guest Designers – Betty Wright + Dana Kirby + Kelli Rich + Cassie Tezak

Hi Everyone! We are doing something a little different this week. We will be showcasing some cards by some of our guest designers. We are very excited to share with you what they have been working on! We have a lot to show you today from our last four designers, Betty Wright, Dana Kirby, Kelli Rich and Cassie Tezak.

Betty Wright

Create rich tone on tone designs and add textures  that does not compete with the focal images.  Here I combined dies.  I combined Scallop Stackers: Medium die and added stitch texture using Border Bling: Tin Stitch.  A tip for combining these two dies is to die cut the scallop frame first, then line it up with the Tin Stitch.

Add extra impact using your Border Bling: Lots of Dots by doing metallic inlay.  I love the contrast.  A tip is to adhere the die cut frame to an adhesive backed panel.  This makes inlaying the pieces fast and easy.  You can also use some of these extra die cut circles as extra embellishments as I did around the sentiment frame.

Combine the teacup dies to create a fun tea cup carousel gift set.  I added a tea packet to each pocket.  However, you could add inspirational notes, gift cards, chocolates, or scriptures.  These are easy to create. Die cut 7 teacups from the Cup of Love die,  glue the back of one to the back of another using all seven. Just make sure when you add your adhesive to do so around the edges of the cups leaving the top of the tea cup without any adhesive.  This way the back of one teacup and the front of another tea cup die creates the pocket.  I added a circle “saucer” base with a sentiment heart coming through the center as a teacup carousel topper using  a sentiment from the Cup of Love stamp set.

My name is Dana Kirby (DKirby Stamps: Blog, @dkirbystamps: Instagram) and I am excited to share my love for paper crafting with all of you. I am a wife to my wonderful husband, Ric. We have been married for 24 years and have two beautiful daughters. I have been a paper crafter for over 20 years when I fell in love with scrapbooking. I bought my first stamp set from Papertrey Ink over ten years ago and that is where my love for stamping began. Most days you can find me in my craft room creating cards or some sort of paper crafting project. I am so excited to be here sharing my projects with all of you.

My name is Kelli and I have 3 boys. I love memory keeping, pretty papers and vintage typewriters.

These cute little caroling critters were perfect to add to these gift tags. I put some gold glittery paper behind the critters to make them pop. I also cut little fringes in the ends of their scarves for dimension. These critters are sure to brighten someone’s day!

Cassie Tezak

The open space from the Border Bling: Tin Stitched die leaves the perfect amount of space to create a scene and stamp a sentiment!

The heart head band was my favorite accessory for these cute critters! Also, Tilting the Border Bling: Tin Stitched die gives off a whole different look!

I loved using iridescent glitter to pull out the colors of the ink I used. Also, you can pair the Critter Carolers with a lot of different sentiments to stretch your stamps!

I love this bear from Critter Carolers. The fun thing is that you can color him to look like a polar bear for winter scenes, or in brown tones for any other card!

Guest Designers – Wanda Cullen and Mindy Baxter

Hi Everyone! We are doing something a little different this week. We will be showcasing some cards by some of our guest designers. We are very excited to share with you what they have been working on! Next are Wanda Cullen and Mindy Baxter!

I’m a long time stamper – 22 years to be exact – and am thrilled to be a guest designer for Ink to Paper/Papertrey Ink!  I’m a retired registered nurse and worked 42 years at a comprehensive rehabilitation center and previously a couple of years as a surgical floor nurse immediately after graduation.  We are empty nesters of three grown children and are currently enjoying spoiling our four grandchildren! My card making style is typically clean and layered with lots of florals and you will soon note that I love puns as evidenced by my blog name – Cullen-ary Creations.  I hope to inspire you with my card creations as much as others have inspired me over the years!

Hello! It’s Mindy from My Creative Scoop and I’m so excited to be guest designing for Papertrey Ink! I’ve been card-making for going on 13 years! My favorite part is coloring with my Copic Markers – I just love to bring a stamped image to life. I live in Southern California with my hubby and our 3 kids, Ralphy 20, Belle 16 and Katie 12. I’m fortunate enough to have made my hobby a full-time business where I teach online and local Copic classes. Thank you so much for joining me on the Papertrey Ink Blog today, I hope I will inspire you to create!

I wanted to make a really colorful card so I took my Distress Oxide inks and created a rainbow background on a small piece of cardstock 3 x 4 1/4. This piece of cardstock fit perfect in the center of the border bling tin stitched die. I then stamped my small heart from the New All About You Stamp Set in White ink. Then, I die cut the ‘you’ 2 times, once in white fun foam and the other in black cardstock and glued the black ‘you’ to the foam for some extra dimension. I die cut a white heart out to place in the center of my rainbow background. And attached the sentiment strips the ‘you’ to my card. For some final touches I took my white gel pen and added some little dots to the rainbow background then took a black multiline to add some faux stitching around the edge.

I made another card with some cool blue hues. I first sponged my card base with Chipped Sapphire, Peacock Feathers and Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide inks. Then I die cut the Lots of Dots border die in white and glued it to the card base so you have all those little distress oxide blue dots showing. I created another blue hue Distress Oxide Background and stamped my hearts in White pigment ink and then Embossed them in some White embossing powder and die cut them out. The ‘You’ is cut out with black cardstock and the remaining sentiment is stamped in Blank Memento Ink.
I had so much fun creating these cards and using all the different techniques. I hope I’ve inspired you to create using the new release from Papertrey Ink!

Guest Designers – Vicki Finger

By | Design Team Tips, General | 7 Comments

Hi Everyone! We are doing something a little different this week. We will be showcasing some cards by some of our guest designers. We are very excited to share with you what they have been working on! Next is Vicki Finger!

Hello there!  My name is Vicki Finger and I live about an hour north of Dallas, Texas near Lake Texoma.  We just moved back to Texas last year after an 8.5-year stint in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  I started my blog, Twinkling Paper Studio, on July 31st of 2015 so I just celebrated my 4th anniversary of blogging.  I have been paper crafting for 20+ years in the form of scrapbooking Creative Memories Style, but I love the more instant gratification of card-making.  I discovered Papertrey in late 2015 and got onto the forum in the spring of that year.  I fell in love with Papertrey products instantly and the love is still there! I’m a wife of 35+ years, a Mom to three girls, and Mimi to 12 grandkids and 2 Great-Grands.  Life is good!  My personal blogging style is more conversational although I try to include the technical details you need replicate what I make.  I love to incorporate gold and bling wherever I can and I hope you’ll be inspired by my work.

To replicate the colors in Ink to Paper Cardstock, use Royal Velvet, Amethyst Allure, Winter Wisteria and Lilac Grace.
When working with Gilding Flakes, it is helpful to use a ¼ inch wide flat brush to apply to my project. A quickie glue pen also works well so the adhesive is only where you want it.  Gilding Flakes have a mind of their own and tend to fly everywhere, so open your container with caution.
